Filtering Grapes
Use the left sidebar to filter grapes by various criteria:
- Colour — Filter by red or white grapes
- Region — Old World (Europe) or New World (Americas, Australasia, etc.)
- Origin Country — Where the grape variety originated
- Growing Countries — Where the grape is commercially planted today
- WSET Level — Filter by wine education level (Level 2, Level 3, Diploma)
- Importance — Major, Notable, or Obscure varieties
Click on any filter option to apply it. Click again to remove. Multiple filters can be combined.
Searching
Three search fields let you find grapes quickly:
- Grape name — Search by grape variety name or alias
- Origin country — Search by country of origin
- Growing country — Search by countries where it's grown
Search results appear as you type (live search). Click the × button inside any search box to clear that field.
Tip: Extended Search
Enable the "Extended search" checkbox to also search grape descriptions and regional notes, not just names and countries.
Changing the View
Choose how grapes are displayed:
- Cards — Visual grid with images and key info (default)
- List — Compact table view with sortable columns
Toggle between views using the View section in the sidebar.
Sorting
In List view, click any column header to sort by that column:
- Name — Alphabetical by grape name
- Country — By country of origin
- Colour — Red or White
- Volume — By global production volume
- WSET — By wine education level
Click the same header again to reverse the sort order. Arrows show the current sort direction.
Sidebar Controls
- Expand All / Collapse All — Open or close all accordion sections at once
- Clear Filters — Reset all filters and searches to show all grapes
Reordering Sidebar Sections
Customise the sidebar layout to your preference:
- Drag and drop — Grab the handle and drag sections up or down
- Arrow buttons — Click the up or down arrows to move sections one position
Your custom order is saved automatically and remembered for future visits.
Viewing a Grape
Click any grape card or list row to view its full detail page with:
- Wine colour and appearance
- Aroma and flavour profiles
- Tannin characteristics (for reds)
- Notable wine regions with maps
- Food pairings
- Blind tasting tips
Use the ← Back button (top right) to return to your filtered list.
